Prof. (GTU / Georgia) Dr. phil. Dipl. sc. pol. Stephan J. Lang has been admitted to the bar as an attorney in Munich since 1994. After completing a dual degree in law and political science, he completed his legal traineeship in the legal department of the then Bayerische Vereinsbank in Munich and Paris. He then worked as a business lawyer at the renowned firm King & Spalding in New York.

After completing his doctorate, Prof. (GTU / Georgia) Lang worked, among other roles, as a lawyer at the Federal Ministry of Defence and as a project manager at the University of the Bundeswehr. Research stays took him to Rome, Washington and Harvard University. Since 2002, he has been a visiting lecturer in business law at the Georgian Technical University in Tbilisi, where he was appointed visiting professor in 2013. He is also a founding member of the Swiss corporate and strategy consultancy SCPA.

His professional focus is on inheritance and inheritance tax law, which he increasingly handles internationally—particularly in cooperation with partners in Italy, France and Spain, and since 2010 in the Middle East. At the end of 2015, he opened his own offices in Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Dubai and Abu Dhabi. There, in addition to business law, he focuses on international succession planning, asset structuring and tax structuring advice.

Since 2010, Prof. (GTU / Georgia) Dr. Stephan J. Lang has headed the Legal Department at Dr. Lang Emirates and brings his extensive legal experience to bear specifically on cross-border mandates.
